Minister Hasan Announces First Coronavirus Case in Lebanon
 
The Minister of Public Health Dr. Hamad Hasan confirmed the first case of coronavirus in Lebanon after a patient was tested positive for the virus. The 45-year-old infected woman was on board the flight from Qom, Iran.

During a press conference held in the presence of Dr. Iman Shankiti, WHO representative to Lebanon, Dr. Hasan noted that the patient was quarantined, is now receiving the necessary treatment and her condition is stable.

He added that there are no other confirmed cases, however two other suspected cases were transferred to Rafik Hariri Hospital, where they are closely monitored.

The measures against the coronavirus are taken by the Ministry of Public Health in accordance with WHO recommendations of and they are sufficiently strict.

Minister Hasan confirmed that the hysterical panic is unnecessary for the time being, especially that the patient does not show any serious complications.
He added that all the passengers who are in home-quarantine are closely monitored by a team from the Ministry.

Recommendations of the Ministry of Public Health
 
  • Avoid contact with home-quarantined people suffering from respiratory diseases.
  • Follow respiratory hygiene and wash your hands regularly.
  • The travelers who came from Iran the last two weeks are asked to observe a 14-day home quarantine and call the hotline 76592699  if symptoms appear (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath).
Minister Hasan noted that the coronavirus death rate does not exceed 2.3% so far, although it spreads so fast.
