Saint George University Hospital in Achrafieh opened this afternoon the new nuclear medicine center with the blessing of Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Beirut in Lebanon, His Eminence, the Most Reverend Elias Audi and in the presence of the Minister of Public Health Ghassan Hasbani, the president and Director General of the hospital Dr. Edgard Joujou, Chief of medical radiology department Dr. Raja Kachouh, the Medical director Dr. Alexander Nehmeh, members of the hospital’s board of directors, physicians and administrative staff.

Kachouh

Kachouh noted the importance of the center for the hospital as it contributes effectively in the diagnosis of diseases, in particular cancers, and provides a comprehensive range of services in the field of nuclear imaging.

“The center is equipped with the latest medical imaging devices with gamma cameras (SPECT-CT) and 3D Positron Emission Tomography (PET-CT), under the supervision of specialized medical and technical staff and nurses experienced in this field. These devices provide core information that enable doctors to thoroughly carry out early diagnosis,” added Dr. Kachouh.

Dr. Joujou stated that the view of H.E. Elias enables this medical center to accomplish all the achievements, such as building this center, equipping and activating it, and finally approving the license to establish St. George University in Beirut.

Audi

“This hospital is not a commercial institution as thought by many. It is a human hospitalization institution aiming at serving the patient, and all the efforts exerted to develop it are to ensure a better life and health care.”

Hasbani

Hasbani said that this is a special occasion in terms of hard work that leads to concerted efforts and the use of modern technology for human service, since it adds value to the hospitalization sector in Beirut and Lebanon.

“We will continue to support this work through a historic institution Lebanon is proud of. This institution is part of a network of healthcare, educational and hospitalization institutions that have not ceased to develop and work with all the people who support it,” Hasbani added.
