Hasbani: the Financial Ceiling for each Hospital was Fairly set and the Major Problem Lies in the Non-Payment of Arrangement ِِAgreements since 2000"

Deputy Prime Minister and health Minsiter Ghassan Hasbani said in a tweet that the financial ceilings for hospitals were set according to an equation that ensures a fair distribution and takes into consideration the demand for services and the size of hospitals in order to provide the necessary treatment for all the Lebanese in all the regions and within the limited budget of the Ministry that hasn’t been increased before.

“The situation of each government hospital has been taken into consideration, and hospitals’ ceilings haven’t been radically modified. However, after activating the control over the access to hospitals and introducing additional incomes to them, such as the workers’ and outpatient exams and the international funding ensured to develop emergency departments, their financial status will get better. The major problem does not lie in the financial ceilings but in the non-payment of arrangement agreements due to hospitals by the state since 2000, which amount to 240 billion LBP for the government hospitals. We have submitted a detailed report concerning this matter, but it wasn’t set for discussion on the cabinet’s agenda,” he added.
