MOH Eligibility and Utilization Statistics 2004 | 28.12.2004 | According to the visa billing center at the MOH, and considering 2,083,000 Lebanese eligible for coverage (48.3%), the registered Inpatient visas granted sum up to only 120000 making an inpatient services utilization rate of around 6%. |
Number of Children by month in 2004 | 28.12.2004 | These are estimates of the baseline population of children aged 1-12 months by month of age applying an Infant Mortality Rate of 27 per thousand live births, assuming constant rate throughout the year. In the matrix, monthly birth data registered by the Central Administration of Statistics are used for the years 2003-2004. |

These statistics were done before the release of the Living Conditions and Housing Survey done by the Central Administration of Statistics for the Year 2004, and the Preliminary data of the Papfam survey 2005. So some of the rates provided will soon be adjusted accordingly. |

Deaths lists are received monthly by the Department of Statistics from the 44 Qalams distributed in different Qadas of Lebanon through the District Physicians. A total of 11379 deaths were registered and reported in 2004. Reporting rate was 69%. As for the case of the births, deaths occuring in Beirut are not reported to the MOH for administrative reasons to be solved.

A total of 51809 biths were registered and reported in 2004. Reporting rate was 70.1%. Worth noting that births registered in Beirut are not reported to MOH. Efforts are underway to receive them. |
Population less than 5 years old, estimated for the Immunization Plans | 23.12.2004 | The proportion of Lebanese population in different Qadas out of the total population, as well as estimates of the numbers of children less than 5 years old are provided. Data on children less than two years old are primarily important for immunization campaigns. But, so far, no survey in Lebanon was done to stratify the first five years of age into smaller groups. |
Calculation of population by Qada 2003-2004 | 12.12.2004 | Based on population proportions by Qada generated in 1996 by the Ministry Of Social Affairs, and estimates for the general population 2003-2004, this provides a rough estimate of the number of residents in each Qada, and total number of population per 5-year age groups. |

MOH granted inpatient visas during 2004 by ICD10 codes | 01.01.2004 | 106,201 inpatient visas were granted during the year 2004 at the Visa-billing center at the MOH. The search included 8 visa centers all over Lebanon (Beirut, Nabatieh, Zgharta, Beiteddine, Chahhar Gharbi, Jbeil, Dhahr El Bechek, Kesserouan), in addition to 14 other centers that were added progressively during 2004. They were compiled and classified by ICD10 three-character codes. |
Mental Health Statistics | 28.12.2003 | Worth noting that the MOH does not cover medical consultations on an outpatient basis for mental patients, but rather medications for mental illnesses are provided through the Drug Dispensing Center in Karantina following a case study from a specialized committee. Also, for inpatients, coverage is based on days-stay and not on capitation basis, because of patients’ turnover during the year. |
